property stylist and interior designer Vicki Brereton joins the team at My Renovation Magazine

Vicki-head-shotVicki Brereton is a Melbourne-based property stylist and interior designer.   Her company, Décor Interior Style, was founded in 2010 with the aim of bringing to Melbourne a personalised and affordable styling experience.

But her career hasn’t always been interior design and renovations.  Believe it or not, Vicki’s keen eye for detail developed when she was working for the Australian military as a workflow analyser, making the workspace more functional and efficient.  It was through this experience that Vicki realised the same principles she employed when redesigning a workspace can be applied to homes, shops, and restaurants.

“Respecting a room’s natural flow and an understanding of how the space will be used helps me to create homes that just feel right.”

That’s how she approaches every project, no matter what it is.

“My favourite moment is when a client walks into their styled home and tells me how welcoming it is.  Well, actually I really love when they squeal in delight.”

And that’s what keeps her going.

Today, Vicki recreates spaces that make people do just that; squeal…along with jumping around, followed by them sitting down and smiling, taking in every bit of their new space.

Vicki will be writing a regular column for My Renovation Magazine starting from next week.
